THE MONK WHO SOLD HIS FERRARI SUMMARY
I remember i read this fable story back in 2020.Fable is considered as part of literature in which animals or any things other than humans are given human qualities.
The story starts up when Julian Mantle ,a successful, rich and famous lawyer fell on floor of court. He was taken to hospital and where doctor advised him to take some rest from his work as he suffered a heart attack .
Julian was working many hours in day and he looked like a person in his seventies while he was 53.The work load made him tired and dizzy.
For sake of his health ,he decided to change his life. He sold his all major things he own like his red Ferrari and went on a journey to learn new things in life. In the quest of change, he went out to Indian Himalayas and landed in a village called Shivana, where many yogis live.
There He met a old yogi ”Raman’‘ who look young despite he was may be 100 yrs of age. He was the one who change the thinking way of Julian. He taught valuable lessons to Julian by telling a fable and then told him facts.
Read this paragraph deeply ,otherwise you can’t understand afterward explanation. Focus on highlighted terms.
He told Julian to imagine he’s sitting in garden full of beauty, nature and it also has a lighthouse and then a sumo wrestler appear from behind having pink rope around his belly and he sees a golden watch on the ground. When he came close to it ,he faint or syncope. After some time, the wrestle wake up ,gain his senses because of smell or fragrance of nearby roses or flowers. Then he saw through the bushes ,a path of diamond and he went towards it happily and disappeared.
You must be thinking what this means and it seems quite strange. Same happened with Julian. He tells yogi Raman what kind of fun is it? Then Yogi opens up the story to him in a amazing manner and hope this gonna make you interested in this book.
What are the seven virtues in The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari?
Here are 7 virtues of book:
Garden
Yogi tell Julian that the garden in the start that seems beautiful resemble our mind. If we gonna keep it positive ,healthy and free from negative things like hopelessness this will improve quality of our life. We have read many times that mind has vital role in many things even in Victory and that’s what this virtue of book is telling about.
Lighthouse
The next thing in story yogi highlighted was lighthouse. As we all know, lighthouse is used to give direction to ships during night. Yogi said it resemble our motive ,our goals in life.
If we have goals in our life, then gonna take us to our destiny .Can you imagine a life without goals? Life hasn’t any worth if it has no purpose.
Like many motivational books ,Robin Sharma by using fictional examples gives a lesson to must include goals in life.
5 steps method for purpose
- Think good what gonna happen in end
- Place positive thoughts in mind only
- Set the limit when you have to get your goals
- Attach to good things for 21 days as they become habit .You can read it in 5am club summary on our site.

You can set up your goals and try to chase them. Try to write down what you want in your life ,see it Daily as this make mind to follow and do it. Goals in life lead to achievements. So stick to your purpose and chase your dreams.

We should be hungry for struggle, improvements and learning lessons from failure. We should improve our self daily to get what we demand from life.

What is Pink Wire Cable in Monk Who Sold His Ferrari?
The wrestler has a pink rope around his belly and this resemble self discipline ,courage, or unity. As that read rope has many threads that in unity make it strong. Same goes with life our small tasks act as threads and leads to big achievements like the thread made rope. It also resemble our disciple as it strength our will power, our self belief.
Writer also shared how one can build this will power. He said try to repeat the words like I am strong then rest of world etc for 30 days as these motivational words gonna impact on mind and bring changes .
Golden Watch
Yogi then open up to Julian about that golden watch that resemble the time. We read when wrestler came he faint near watch. This is because we all await for opportunities and never take any action. This leads to procrastination and when we care about time ,all things gone from our hands. Then we says and feel sad and say that it’s now to late and we can’t do anything.
One shouldn’t wait for moments that gonna correct his situation, just take some steps and go on. Action gonna reduce procrastination, and increase outputs. You can read best book summary on procrastination “Eat that frog” on our site. See more
Rose
The rose in story resemble the goodness or serving humanity. We should be kind to others, generous to them and try to help them if they feel needy. This is a lesson to most of us who can do this in their life. In Chinese, there’s explanation of a famous proverb I read somewhere that fragrance or smell remain on hands of the one who had given gift.
So if we do good to the ones around us, same gonna follow us.
Diamond Path
This is the last virtue from story yogi Raman told and it’s the best thing I learned from this book. The diamond path resemble the present moment.
We shouldn’t sacrifice our joy. We should cheer for moments we got and try to enjoy the moments.
