The story starts up with a Brazilian girl named as “Maria” who’s protagonist in novel ends up as prostitute after leaving her country.Maria was only child of her family and when she was 11 years old she fell in love with boy on way to her school who asked her for pencil but she ignored him and later she regretted for doing so.Then after this,she lost her virginity to her boyfriend who decieved and cheated on her over her Friend.These events introduced her to thought like love isn’t possible any many such thoughts.

Maria had dream of becoming dancer and for that so she went to her dream city called as Rio De Janeiro to spend days after her boss permission.There she met a man Roger who introduced her that they are looking for samba dancers in a swiss club.He offered him enough money and she got agreed and signed on papers.

When they reached in Switzerland,she found it completely different.There she worked as dancer but soon fired because she dated someone and this was all against the regulations of club.

Then she started looking for actress jobs but ain’t successful until she met Arab man who offered her thousand francs to have fun with her.It was huge money and she got agreed as she don’t want to go back home empty handed.There she discovered the world of prostitution.

Few days on ,she got occupation at a Brazilian named brothel or club named as Copacabana owned by Milan.There she had fun with many clients who offered her great money.She become friend with Nyah,a prostitute from Philippine.She taught her basics about prostitution.

The job was like clients visit brothel and asked the girls about drinks . Later on,they went out to call taxi and end up on beds in hotels. Maria even started learning local language and books on climax prostitution to please her clients. This was how it goes on until she met a famous swiss painter on a road to Santiago in a coffee shop named as “Ralf Hart“.He took permission from Maria to draw her picture and after rejections finally she agreed.

Well, Eleven Minutes seems to base on  prostitution but it’s more than that.It has some great qoutes that seems philosophical.

As I was reading this,in the start it look quite boring to me as it was more focusing on prostitution but at the end it has change entire concept.The way Maria changed herself,her way of thinking about true love and sufferings had captivated me at end of novel.

Morever, the novel also gives a women empowerment message that women’s ain’t a body pleasuring material but they had a huge role in society and mans need to respect that.

True pleasure of novel you’ll get by reading this book. I Read many others books of Paulo Coelho and after Alchemist ,it’s recommended to go once.
